Otherwise, the parts are either the same (part number begins with M6) or the same except for length as the equivalent part on the Atlas 618 lathe. And it does not have a common history of back gear problems.

WEBMar 1, 2002 · About the Atlas Horizontal Mill . . . the spindle is threaded 1x10 with an MT2 taper the same as later model Atlas/Craftsman 6" lathes. So chucks, faceplates, boring heads and milling cutter holders are readily available on eBay and from various vendors of new items. Clausing still sells many parts for the old Atlas/Craftsman machines.

There are two round notches in genuine Atlas milling arbors and these mate with pins that protrude from a threadon spindle drive adaptor to keep the arbor from slipping in the taper when driving a milling cutter.

WEBSep 22, 2016 · Apparently Atlas built this machine with VERY tight tolerances, as a tiny bit of rust literally froze the parts tight. After a few gallons of Evaporust and some gentle persuasion, everything came apart and the rebuild began. Allinall the mill was in pretty good shape, with only 4 gears needing replacement, which were available on EBay.

If Atlas gears are not available, gears are gears and any stock gears of the same pitch and pressure angle will work although modifiion of the width and hub might be necessary. They can be shop made or purchased from many sources.
